(Don't worry Mom, it's ok to read on...)
I'm happy to report that I finally experienced the "runner's high" for the very first time. I've been waiting for it wondering when and if it might ever happen. I was starting to believe it was just a myth told by experienced runners to lure newbees into the sport.
But now, I can personally attest, yes Virginia, it does exist.
It came as the result of an 11.6km run three of us did together last night. The air was crisp, the mood was light and we all had magic feet. In fact, it was the very first time I actually felt like a runner. It all just clicked for me, my breathing, my pace, my legs did what I wanted them to do.
When we finished we were rewarded with a most pleasant buzz, which I can only assume was that elusive runner's high. And I'm pretty certain it was because of the running, and not the big cloud of marijuana smoke we ran through on Thistle Street. Although I'm sure that didn't hurt.
Now I just have to figure out what I did right so I can do it again.
Oh. Maybe that's the point.

I hope that the cloud of MJ smoke was not coming from my house...
You know you and your running group are welcome any time - I've got plenty of horses you can "go see a man about" and water fill-ups are free!
It wasn't your place; you know we would have definitely stoppped in it it had been!!! I did tell the girls though that I knew the owners of the lovely grey house on the left if anyone needed a pee break. No takers, but don't be surprised if you get a frantic knock on your door some day; you've now been marked as an official pee (and homemade jam and biscuit) stop.
I'm so very proud of you. You are living proof that persistence pays off. congratulations!
Luv, mum
